Welcome to Burke Brangus Farm

Mike’s passion for the cattle business began at an early age. As a teenager Mike can remember helping his father with his small Angus herd. Mike remembers the hard work and long hours of fence mending and daily chores but he also remembers the sense of accomplishment that came with the cattle and the time he spent with his father.

After many years in the power industry in Georgia as a Civil Engineer, Mike was finally able to return to his roots and start his own cow herd in 2002. He began small with a group of commercial crossbred Brangus females. The herd continued to grow each year and Mike became more and more involved in the industry he loved.

Along the way in all of this “cattle business” Mike met Susan and in 2005 they were married. Mike now has a new partner to share the cattle business. Susan is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and loves to spend her extra time working with Mike on the farm, monogramming, quilting, and traveling with Mike to cattle sales.

When the decision was made to start the registered herd in 2009 Mike and Susan knew that they wanted to branch out across the United States and try to build something that would set their program among the top herds in the country. This is exactly what Mike and Susan are accomplishing.

Mike and Susan believe in being active in various organizations of the cattle industry. Both Mike and Susan sit on the board of directors of the Burke County Cattlemen’s Association. Mike is a regional vice president of the Georgia Cattlemen’s Association. He is also on the board of directors for the International Brangus Breeders Association. Mike also sits on the board of the Southeast Brangus Breeders Association. Susan is on the board of directors of the IBBA Auxiliary.

In 2011 Mike and Susan hired Cattle Solutions (Kyle and Crystal Devoll) as herd consultant. They will be bringing their years of professional expertise to many areas of Burke Brangus Farms. They will be working with the program on nutrition, herd health, genetic selection, and marketing of the program.
